The Municipality of Gevgelija is located in the south east region of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, in close proximity to the Greek borders and is administratively affiliated in the South east Region. The surface of the Municipality reaches 485 square km and its population is 22.988 citizens. Municipality of Gevgelija is a unit of local government, in which citizens exercise their right to local self-government directly and through their representatives in the municipal bodies. Municipality of Gevgelija has realized a number of successful projects, most of which are in the area of infrastructure, but also in the economic and local development, tourism development, social cohesion and social protection, development of the sector of education and culture and energy efficiency. In the most of these projects, the municipality is co-financier in implementation.

Municipal Enterprise for Water Supply and Sewerage of Paionia is responsible for the research/study, construction, maintenance, utilisation, management and operation of the water supply and wastewater networks, as well as for the processing units of potable water. Its current state has result by the merger of the two Municipal Enterprises for Water Supply and Sewerage of Polykastro and Axioupoli.
